uberniftacular: (Avengers: Tony)
I want to write. Like, I have this desperate feeling that I REALLY WANT TO BE WRITING RIGHT NOW.

But I have no inspiration.

There are bits and pieces of a couple fics floating around in my head (all Avengers, as if this is any surprise to anybody right now), a little, but I can't really write those. I want to, but I don't think I can get the character voices right.

Also, I have a massive problem when I try to write: fic doesn't come to me in WORDS. What I get is flashes of images: a character dancing, two people sitting in a car talking, stuff like that. It rarely comes in words. And so even when I'm feeling inspired, it's hard to translate from the image on my head to words on a screen.

And it's just...very frustrating. Because I want to write, I really do. My fingers are all "I need to be typing right now, make me write something!" (No, I don't really know, I just have this need to type. I don't understand it either.)

On top of the two fics that I might eventually actually get around to writing, I've got another random bunny that was totally inspired by a song I recently listened to, and it's something that I would love to see, but I think it's going to involve PLOT, which is something I'm not great at. I'm decent at, like...little scenes and stuff, but not really good at things that might have plot involving more than a few scenes at most. (I've got another fic that I've actually started writing, that's Warehouse 13/Eureka, that's going to be long and plotty and full of FEELINGS and I have no idea if or how it's ever going to get done. Because PLOT. And lots of serious emotions. Oh, and a baby. WHY do I do these things to myself?)

Um. And I still want ALL THE AVENGERS AUs too. And people are making pretty graphics but nobody seems to actually be writing them? Which makes me desperately wish I could do actual art, because I'd totally have done some AU art for the RBB.

Because seriously, AUs I want include:
-fantasy (DRAGON!COULSON. 'nuff said.)
-the 1940s/film noir/private eye one (I have a THING about fedoras and pinstripes, and also these pictures happened)
-rock band (unf, pretty people with guitars)
-Victorian
-Whatever era it's called that Downton Abbey is set in (period dramas are awesome, okay?)
-a jazz age one would be pretty awesome too. (Tony Stark in a speakeasy. C'mon.)
-STEAMPUNK oh my god. I want everything to be steampunk all the time.
-Pirates!
-zombie apocalypse (because every fandom needs their own zombie apocalypse AU)
-cop drama (I love me some cop drama)
-Western
-always more high school/college AUs, because those are always ALWAYS a good thing
-also always more coffee shop/bakery AUs
-ETA: And also a fusion of Avengers and Warehouse 13, except set at Warehouse 12, where the Avengers are agents and work with HG Wells, because that would be kind of cool. Also, Tony Stark in the Warehouse.

These are things I cannot write. (Please let me know if anybody has written any of these already? Because if they have, I desperately wish to read them. CRAVING good fic, particularly longfic, right now. It helps, a bit, with the part where I want to write.)

uberniftacular: (Eureka/WH13: Claudia/Fargo)
Episodes of Voyager watched today: 10 and counting. Probably fit in another 1 or 2 before bed tonight. (Because I'd rewatched season 1 a short while ago, this means I'm currently on episode 2x19, having just started the season 2 rewatch last night) I'd forgotten how much I love this show. And how much I really like the Doctor. And how much I just want to slap Neelix sometimes (jealousy is so unbecoming, and I find it terribly irritating). One beef with it, though: SPACE HAS THREE DIMENSIONS. COUNT THEM: THREE. So if you're, for example, surrounded by a "ring" of some sort of anomaly, GO UP. GO DOWN. YOU DON'T HAVE TO JUST BARREL STRAIGHT THROUGH THE DAMNED THING. *facepalm*

Also, I would like more Tom-and-Harry scenes (because GODDAMMIT I SLASH THEM, GIVE ME SOMETHING TO WORK WITH).

Also managed to get the recycling taken out, dishes done, laundry done, and got my lab notebook all caught up (I was like...3 days behind?)

On top of that, I've written another 350 or so words today on the WH13/Eureka fic that's been sitting on my desktop staring at me for ages. The idea for it is eating my brain, but I have a lot of trouble actually getting words out. This fic promises to be potentially VERY LONG, and full of tension and emotion and angst...and none of those things are things I'm good at writing! Fic currently stands at almost 600 words, and I'm not even to the end of what's probably going to be the first chapter. This fic threw itself at me shortly after I'd finished watching Eureka S4, and it's going to be all twisty and tension-y and I just want to TALK ABOUT IT FOREVER but that won't get it written (though it might help inspire me as to where it needs to go?). It's an idea I'm very excited about, but I know already that the actual writing of it is going to give me trouble. At least I have a general idea of some of the scenes that need writing, it'll just be an issue of getting the words pounded out.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever be able to write that Ryan/Esposito fic idea that came to me the other night. I posted it as a prompt at the ficondemand comm over at Dreamwidth, in the hopes that maybe somebody over there would be able to write it.

Guh. I'm rambling. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that it's very quiet over here and I kind of just want to talk to people. THIS IS A CRY FOR ATTENTION. XD

To conclude, have a picture of my cat:

You guys. I finished the GODDAMN FAIRIES show. \o/

Name: Fae
Type: hour-long drama on BBC2
Synopsis: The realm of the faeries is always ruled by a queen. Lately, however, there have been a few upsets in the rule over the faerie realm. Brigit and her children have been exiled to a human city – the same one, in fact, where Brigit sent her own mother 20 years ago. Now, they’re forced to live together, re-learning how to get along with each other while plotting ways to get back their family’s rightful throne. The show focuses on the daily lives of both Brigit’s family, learning to make their ways masquerading as humans in the city, and Adelaide’s family and court, getting accustomed to being in control and fighting to keep the throne they have won.

Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.

And I'm adding commentary to some of these, just because.

All from me and [personal profile] language_escapes's CM kid!verse

In Which Hotch Moves In
--Half-finished. I hate writing dialogue, but chose to base an entire fic around a phone conversation. WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO?
In Which JJ develops a fear of dogs
--This one kinda got absorbed into another fic, but I didn't delete it.
In Which Reid Has a Nightmare
In Which Rossi Attempts to Bind
--This is about the only one that seems to be going anywhere at the moment. By which I mean, I wrote a few sentences on it when I went home for Christmas.
In Which something happens with a title
--Yeah. I know. But I like the title idea, just don't know what sort of fic might go with it. (Incidentally, the title is pulling hope from your pocket)
In Which We See Five Birthday Presents that Weren't Expected
--One section of this turned into a full fic of its own. It's called All Hallows. I have one paragraph of #1, and #3-5 are just vague ideas.

If anyone was curious, I use this naming system because I don't keep my WIPs in a separate folder from completed projects, so this keeps them all together and easily findable, and then I change the file names when I finish the fic and have a title for it.

Okay, so. I just realized I've got other WIPs in other folders too. (I organize all the shit on my computer by fandom, as opposed to keeping all my writing in one place or anything)

Bones, Zack/Hodgins
untitled Zack fic
--This one is...a sentence and a half long.

Criminal Minds/Numb3rs
Reid Charlie fic
--3 sentences long. In a subfolder of my CM folder entitled "Other fic shit," to keep it separate from my main CM 'verse.

CSI:NY, all Danny/Flack
WIP - fight
WIP - MI part 2
--A sequel to a fic I wrote a LONG time ago. Mission: Impossible
WIP - poker

Okay, so. Instead of My Saints is a fanfiction universe I'm working on with [personal profile] language_escapes. . It is in no way finished, I just wanted to post my bits of it here. Eventually, when we feel it's ready, it has its own community where everything will go, in sort of chronological order.

A note on the timeline: We've made Hotch, Gideon, and Rossi much older than they are in canon; the other characters are approximately the same ages. (i.e. the younger characters' birthdates are in the 1970s, pretty much like the actors, while the older characters were born in the 1930s/40s, suitable for being parent-aged. Essentially, the ages that Hotch, Gideon, and Rossi look in the series are the ages they are while the younger characters are teenagers)

Additional note: While Hotch and Gideon (and later Hotch and Rossi) are effectively the parents of these children, they are not in a romantic/sexual relationship.

For now, here's what I've posted:

outside the gates of eden - set in 1977
the shield and the sun - set in 1979
All Hallows - set in 1985

Word count: 966
Warnings: angst, alcoholism

So. I discovered [livejournal.com profile] isurrendered in...February. Never actually got prompted, just really enjoyed reading the things people posted.

Then my brain decided to throw an entire tv show idea at me. So. I wrote a show. Only took me 9 months (oh god, please no jokes about this show being my "baby," really), but I finally managed to finish the blasted thing!
(We'll not talk about the second one, that I have tons of casting for but no real plot to speak of, that came to me in September or so.)

Many, many thanks go to [personal profile] language_escapes, for listening to me complain about how the characters wouldn't talk to me, critiquing ideas and suggesting some of her own, and generally being awesome in the ways of creativity.

So, without further ado.

The Meme:
1. Comment to this post with "I surrender!" and I'll assign you the basis of some TV show idea. (Science fiction show, medical drama, criminal procedure, etc...)
2. Create a cast of characters, including the actors who'd play them
3. Add in any actor photos, character bios and show synopsis that you want.
4. Post to your own journal (and/or to [livejournal.com profile] isurrendered)

The Show:
Title: Underground

Type: hour-long ensemble drama/comedy/spy show. Short first season 1 of 13 episodes; 22 episodes in season 2. The jury is still out as to whether it will be renewed for a third season.

Synopsis: When ex-MI-5-operative-turned-English-professor David Murphy (Stephen Fry) finds out that Christine de Winter (Christina Hendricks), a brilliant, young, successful CEO, has dreams of world domination, what’s he to do? He can’t stop her on his own, so with the help of rich fellow Brit Andrew Langston (Hugh Laurie), he assembles a team of top students from his university to try to stop her. The students, all from different walks of life as well as different disciplines, must put aside their differences to prevent what looks like it could be a hostile takeover.

Opening theme: Instrumental remix-type thing of Within Temptation "Dark Wings"

Closing theme: Instrumental track from Counting Crows "A Murder of One"
