to any marching band people who may still read my journal...watch this video, it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

ATTENTION ALL DAVISON MARCHING BAND ALUMNI!!!!!

Got your attention now?  Good.  So listen up...

Friday the 28th is homecoming, and as usual, alumni get to march in the parade and pre-game.  There is a rehearsal scheduled for alumni 3:00-3:45 on the 28th...so yeah.  Come march!

Right after the rehearsal, the band boosters will be serving dinner (probably hot dogs), and after dinner, we'll be marching the parade (which begins at 5:30, the band is supposed to be lining up at 4:30, but knowing Mr. Schuster there's a high chance that it'll probably be closer to 5 because it seems like we never line up on time for parades).  After the parade, of course, is the game, which begins at 7.

More information will be up on the band booster website (www.dbob.org) when it's available.

"Old band members never die, they just leave after halftime."

Yeah, it's freaking freezing outside, so I left after halftime cuz I happen to like having feeling in my fingers. I think I'm probably not gonna go to any more playoff games...except if they make it all the way to finals, then I'll go to the game at Ford Field...cuz it's inside. And I wanna see the band get to march on turf!

congrats to the DHS marching band for getting a I at MSBOA (straight A's, w00t!) So yeah, good job you guys!

yeah, so in wind symphony this semester, there's a saxophone player who looks almost exactly like Danny Kish. I am amused.

ATTENTION DAVISON MARCHING BAND ALUMNI!

Homecoming is Friday October 6th, and if you're planning on marching in the parade/pregame, rehearsal starts at 3pm at the high school. I don't know all the details yet, but I'll make sure to post them when I find out exactly what's going on.

(I was gonna post this a couple days ago, but I forgot...so thanks Sarah for reminding me!)

I just finished reading "Perks of Being a Wallflower" again. I don't know what it is about that book, but I just keep coming back to it. Especially in the fall. I dunno why, but it feels like such an autumn sort of book. And what was a little weird is that I just read Colin's most recent LJ entry, and it reminded me a lot of that book.

Other news, I saw Another Misprint this weekend, which was pretty cool, though I was disappointed in the lack of Phill. After the concert we played D&D for the first time in like a month. Laura and Nick showed up for about half an hour in the middle too, which was pretty cool cuz I hadn't seen them in absolutely ages. I've missed my Laura! XD So yay for seeing them, and yay for actually playing for once. We quit early, though, cuz I was practically falling asleep at the table, I feel kinda bad about it, but I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to make it for another hour and a half...and I honestly don't think it would've been fun for anyone to try to play when one of the players isn't conscious.

Also went to the game on Friday night, which was pretty fun. Bry surprised me and showed up halfway through the second quarter, which was awesome because I didn't expect to see him there. I love it when he does little things like that to surprise me. The band looks and sounds great, so yay for them...and I can't wait until homecoming. Someone will need to let me know what time alumni need to be at rehearsal that day, by the way.

So I've got a quiz in about half an hour that I should probably study for. But I don't feel like it, because I studied already today. Blah. First exams for all my classes are coming up soon too...bio on Friday, chem and anthro next Wednesday.

Bry and I are going to see Howl on Saturday, which I'm pretty excited for (if they have tickets still, that is...I need to go buy tickets today).

went up to the high school today and sat in with the band. it was pretty fun. I was highly amused by the double-takes people did when they saw me...it was really funny. Josh and Matt were there too, which was entertaining (especially since Josh was always the one who teased me about coming back all the time last year, so I had to pick on him for that).

not much else to say, really. should be doing homework.

oh, and quote of the day from last night (since Bry didn't post it in his LJ like he said he would...):
"Ouch, my confidence!"

in wind symphony today we got the music for Hoedown from Rodeo. Which, for those of you that don't know it by name...it's the "Beef, it's what's for dinner" music, lol. I'm pretty excited about it.

Also, I dunno if I mentioned this before, but we've got the music for "The Purple Twilight" too...and Dr. A. wants MacLean to conduct it for us. which is going to be cool.

so we taped DCI on Tuesday cuz nobody was home at the time, and I just watched it with Mum and Dad. just saw the Cavaliers, and I'm pretty much in shock. That was freaking amazing.

...eventually I'm going to get enough money to see the DCI championships live, instead of having to watch it on tv.

first day of school went better than expected. Natalie and Lyle are both in my chem and bio classes, Krystle and Rose are in my chem class too. archaeology looks like it could be pretty fun...our teacher is a grad student, and it sounds like she's going to make the class pretty fun.

I'm not the only French horn in wind symphony this semester! was disappointed to find out that Rick isn't doing WS this year, unfortunately...but one of the other members of Another Misprint (Phill, the bass player) is one of the clarinets in wind symphony, which is kinda funny.

my computer is being entirely retarded, it's really annoying. so if I'm kinda erratic about responding when you're talking to me online, it's cuz the compy keeps locking up and stuff and it's really weird.

went to Pizza Hut for dinner with Eric and Mum tonight...and Bobby Amble was our server, which was kinda goofy. I haven't seen that kid in years. I'd forgotten how funny he can be, lol. so yeah, it was kinda silly.

chem lab tomorrow morning, but no bio lab in the afternoon, thank goodness.

the nice thing about the schedule this semester is that I don't have to be up at 5:30 every morning. have to drive myself to school two days a week instead of carpooling with Mum all the time, but that's not such a big deal because I get to get a bit more sleep (which I'm really gonna need, with 15 credits...especially because of organic chem and cell bio).

oh, Eric got the job at the library that he'd been hoping for. so yay him.

for all you Davison band kids out there..remember that song we played my senior year, "Purple Twilight"? well, we're playing it in wind symphony this semester. And Dr. A wants Mr. MacLean to conduct it for us too. So that should be interesting.

went and saw Da Vinci Code with Bry last night...awesome movie. it's been a while since I saw a movie I enjoyed that much. it's been a while since I read the book, so I don't know what all got left out or whatever, but still. I enjoyed it a lot.

house-sitting is half over as of today. just one more week and I can get out of here.

going to band awards tonight, huzzah...it'll be fun to see everyone again. I can't wait to hear all the stories about the seniors, lol.

Tom's coming over to hang out tomorrow, huzzah. and after that, I have no idea what my schedule is going to be, lol. I'm pretty sure we have D&D on Saturday, but dunno where yet.

nothing else to say, lol. there's nothing to do here, so I don't have much to talk about.
uberniftacular: (Default)
visited the band yesterday, that was fun. even if people kept pestering me to try to get me to play, lol.

finally got everybody's open house stuff written down, which is good...I've got a whole bunch to go to this year. even got invited to Ian's, which was really cool. and, conveniently, it's in the afternoon/early evening (2-6) of the day when I've only got 3 others to go to, 2 morning ones and a 1-4, so I'll actually be able to go to all of them.

Tom brought me stew last night, yum. it was super tasty. I've still got a couple meals worth of it left in the fridge too. (yay leftovers!)
uberniftacular: (Default)
musicathon was awesome. the music was sweet, as usual. the last piece orchestra played was like...crazy angry music, it was entertaining. I'm gonna have to get that...it's going to be my new "when I'm pissed" music.

Heiroglyphs! we played that at Wolverine! I was excited.

jazz band was freaking sweet. I liked it a lot. Brass Machine was something that the Wolverine jazz band played. I was way reminiscent about camp last night, can you tell? Jeff and I were talking about it afterwards too. I'm definitely getting excited about going up north to see Jo and Courier and visit camp next month. Huzzah!

a bunch of people were crying after the concert, and that made me sad, because I remember when that was me. it's hard to believe it's been a year already.

I gave everyone hugs, but I don't think it helped. I'm definitely going to visit the band sometime next week. Wednesday maybe (cuz I wanna catch a quote day in Ricketts class before I head down to the band room, lol). Or Friday, cuz then I'd have the whole hour with the band.

so I randomly saw Shawna Hale last night. didn't talk to her, cuz I can't stand her, but I did see her. And freaked out cuz she kinda looks like she could be Tom's twin sister or something, seriously. that disturbed me.

I have a concert today, St. Matthew's Church in Flint, 3PM. Anybody who's interested in coming...here's directions:

take Davison road all the way to its end.
it branches left and right: turn left.
Now you're on Chavez. Take Chavez to 1st St.
Turn right onto 1st St.
Take 1st St. to Beach (1st is half blocked by construction, but it's one way going the direction you need to go, so you can still get through the other lane)
Turn left on Beach.
Continue a few blocks. The church is on the corner of Beach and 3rd. (address is 706 Beach)
Go a few blocks past the church to the next one-way street that lets you turn right (I think it's 4th or 5th, I don't remember for sure).
Turn right onto this street.
The next street you will come to is Church St. Turn right onto it.
About half a block later you'll come to the parking lot for the church. Park there.
The parking lot is behind the church, so you'll have to walk around the building a little to find a door to get in.

I have a concert next week. Wednesday, 7:30 pm, UM-Flint Theatre. $5 admission, but I think it'll be worth it.

So come see my concert! (This announcement is also posted on the Davison band room board)

COME TO MY CONCERT! TONIGHT, 7:30, UMFLINT THEATRE! TICKETS $5 AT THE DOOR!

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE FONT BIGGER, OR ELSE I WOULD!

so I'm listening to the CD of last year's marching show...and I just got all teary...*sniff*

I miss it.

...I really need to get over this, I think...

somebody was just whistling the Mario theme all the way down the hallway.

which reminds me...on Wednesday one of our percussionists decided to start playing the Mario theme on the chimes. Which is offically the most interesting way I've ever heard that played.

and as for other interesting things, a couple days ago some girl's cell phone went off in the hallway, and the ringer was the oompa-loompa song from the original Willy Wonka movie. it was odd.
