Tomorrow's just your future yesterday

This is something that's honestly been building for a while, I just haven't talked about it on here because, honestly, I didn't want to subject you guys to my misery. But I've been pretty much hating grad school for quite some time now, and the past few weeks have been worse than ever, which gave me the kick in the ass I apparently needed.

I'm officially quitting grad school.

I'll be sticking around until the end of summer, to finish up my project and to give me time to look for a job. But by the end of summer, I'll leave with a Masters degree.

I feel like I should regret this decision, but I don't. At all. The things I want to do with my life are things I don't need a PhD for, and the jobs I could get as a PhD are, for the most part, things I don't actually want to do. So, I'll leave with a Masters and hopefully find a job I actually like, with significantly more reasonable hours than grad school expected of me, and better paying on top of it.

Biochem exam is over with. Thank goodness.

Cell bio Friday, molecular bio next week. Then a "break" from exam studying...of course, I still have to choose a rotation lab. And rotations start right around the time when the next round of exams falls, I think.

Ugh. Is it December yet?

On the up side...BRY AND I ARE GETTING A KITTY!

In other news, leaving for my LAST interview today, finally.  Hoping the wind doesn't screw up my flight or any such nonsense.

Also getting to hang out with Jonathan when I get to Evanston, on account of because he goes to school at Northwestern.  Yay for seeing people I haven't seen in months.

Also also...nevermind.  I thought I had something else to say.  But apparently not.

...but my tummy hurts.  DO NOT WANT.

Rache, sorry I couldn't help ya with your paper...I'd been in bed for an hour when you left that comment on my LJ, and I'm not gonna be around again until Saturday.   Wish I could've helped more!

Apparently U of M doesn't want me.

Hmph.

Coolest. Staircase. Ever.

tomorrow morning I have to get up at 4:45. Ugh. U of M grad school interview this weekend, so I'll be out of contact from Thursday through Saturday afternoon. Though there's a business center at the hotel I'm staying at, so I might be able to get on and check email briefly.

Bah, interviews. I'm nervous.

And I've got another one next weekend too. Ugh.

So the U of M Ann Arbor graduate program sent me an email today saying they want me to come in for an interview.

...One down, four to go. At least I feel a little better now knowing that at least one school wants me.
