I'm making Tumblr graphics now. What?

tvrealm has a challenge right now where we have to listen to music and then make graphics based on the lyrics.

I, in my infinite wisdom, decided I was going to make tumblr graphics.

And to my utter surprise, I actually like some of them. The best ones are at the bottom, because yes, I'm going to make you keep scrolling. (I'll probably put the ones I like up on tumblr at some point; I'll add links in here to the tumblr posts so you can reblog if you want.)

They weren't supposed to be mostly Supernatural, but, well. That's what I'm currently mainlining, so it's on my mind.

I AM SO PROUD OF ME TOO OH MY GOD. HOW GRAPHICS. (I'm still not sure I've entirely got the hang of effective use of text/selection of fonts, though.)

They are not all lovely. Particularly the first 4. I'll probably put all of 5-10 up on Tumblr at some point (and maybe 4, I haven't decided yet - I like this version A LOT better than the first version of it, which was legitimately horrendous, but I'm not sure it's tumblr-worthy). But the first few just aren't good enough, I think.

9 made me FUCKING CRY.

Actually, 10 made me cry more. But I guess that makes sense, since I've been much more attached to M*A*S*H for much, much longer. (I've probably been a little bit in love with Hawkeye Pierce since I was like 10 years old. So. Yeah.)

text is the devil :D

but its fun to go searching on dafont.com and going oh that'll look so good (and then it doesn't)
but yeah it just takes practice!!!

TEXT IS SO HARD OH MY GOD. (Especially in GIMP, which doesn't have nice things like the ability to justify-align text. So any of the things that look like they're justified? Yeah, I had to adjust letter spacing myself on all of those. WHY SO DIFFICULT, GIMP?)

See, that's the thing - I've got TONS of fonts. The thing that took me the longest for any of these was clicking through fonts going "does this look good? no. does this look good? no..." for AGES.

(I'm actually quite pleased with how the text in 8-10 came out. The rest are like...pretty okay but not fantastic. Well. Except #2 which is horrendous, but in my defense, that's the first one I made.)

i avoid using text all the time because i hate it.

See, I avoid text when making icons AT ALL COSTS, because it is horrible. But I felt like the bigger graphics kind of need it. And I TRIED SO HARD. So I'm actually quite pleased that several of them look pretty good, text-wise.

Haha yes, fonts are awesome. Just hard to use.

Thank goodness I have another 10 or so ideas left over after making this batch, huh? XD
