First time ever playing a mafia game on LJ.

Pretty fun so far.

Major dilemma: can't tell if character is being played out of character on purpose (i.e. acting weird because they're a werewolf), or if player is just not good at RPing.

Like, I don't want to vote someone off because they're a shitty RPer, you know?

(And this is probably all I can say on the subject because 1. the game is still ongoing, and 2. because naming names is a shitty thing to do in this instance.)

Yeah. See, I'm honestly not sure I understand the strategy at all. I'm enjoying the RPing aspect of it (and honestly thankful that I chose a character who doesn't have much in the way of canon-defined personality, because the idea of trying to RP a prominent character and stay in character is intimidating), but I don't really get the strategy. One of these days maybe I'll see if I can find other mafia games elsewhere, completed ones, and look through to see if I can figure out how it works. (Maybe. This is fun, but kind of...time-consuming. And I do want to eventually like...not be home all day every day. Because a job would be awesome.)

But I have to say, there are certain characters who are being played beautifully in character and that makes me happy.

And now we probably shouldn't say much more until after the game is over, I bet.

For completed games, check out jjmafia or owememafia. I've played nearly 100 games now, at those comms and others. OMM is the most active. JJ has a game every few months, and they're always good games - really well run, lots of experienced players. Mafia is definitely time-consuming. I don't know that I could play it as often as I do if I weren't housebound most of the time.

There are some characters being played SO well. I agree.

Now that the game's over I guess I can specify - I think probably Snape and Pansy impressed me the most.

I thought they were very good as well. Pansy in particular... the character irritated me, which means she was being played perfectly. :P And she did a good job as a seer.
