Watching the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Living Witness," where some culture has this incredibly skewed view of the history of Voyager.

And I love that the way they visually cue that this is eeeeeeeeeevil!Voyager is that everyone is wearing black leather gloves.

(Oh, and evil!Janeway's hair is this terrifying proto-mullet thing. Her hair is bad this season anyway, but this episode it's particularly awful.)

The Doctor-centric episodes are always my total favorites. Like the one where B'elanna unperfects his perfect holographic family, and the one where he lived this whole life on the time-sped-up planet, and the one where he accidentally turned himself into a sociopath. While he and Data had a lot of the same tropes going for them, honestly there is just no comparing them. Data's "humanity" arc felt like a Pinocchio cliche sometimes, but the Doctor's never did. I always loved how awesome and deep the Doctor's efforts to make himself more "real" were.

I love the Doctor. The one with his holofamily is AWESOME. Haven't gotten around to the other ones you mentioned yet (I mean, I saw them once a LONG time ago, but it's been so long and I've watched so many things since then, I have no recollection whatsoever. Hence the rewatch - because, for example, I know that they do get home in the end, but I have no idea HOW. Because I don't think I've watched S7 since it first aired. Ah, the joys of Netflix.)

I think my favorite part about the Doctor was that he was an accident. Data was created to be an artificial being rather than a tool, but if things had gone according to plan, the Doctor as we know him never would have happened at all. He could only have come to exist through the bizarre circumstances of the Voyager's critical location error, and by the time they get close enough to make contact with Starfleet the people back home don't quite know what to make of him.

I think my favorite Doctor episode by far was the one where he gets sent back to Federation space to try and save his "father", and had to struggle against Dr. Zimmerman's resistance to acknowledging him as a person.

Second favorite would be the one where he finds out that the crew wiped an event from his memory because he suffered what is more or less a psychotic break because of a paradox that resulted in his making a life-or-death choice based on personal bias... Its dark, and sad, and just...God, you feel so bad for him.

He ever felt more human to me than he did in those two episodes.

There's a saying out there about how the internet is the first thing mankind has created which that it doesn't understand. In a lot of ways I always felt like holodeck technology was similar. For the most part it's used for escapism and entertainment, but it's been shown to be capable of so much more. There are tons of examples of things backfiring and creating sentient or almost sentient constructs completely by accident. Moriarty, the Doctor, the, er, Fairhaven incident (*snerks*).

Yeah. Only Trek icon I've got at the moment (made by the lovely naushika *points downward*), but I like it. (The episode that's from is one of the few episodes I remember vividly. And even so, when I watched it again last week I went "...were the 90s REALLY that ridiculous?" Also, Sarah Silverman...)

Clearly most of the Doctor-centric episodes are in the later seasons, because I don't think I've gotten to any of those ones yet either. Looking forward to them, though.

Ooh, Moriarty. I need to watch that TNG episode again. (Should do so anyway, I love holodeck adventure episodes! Also, Data in the earflap hat.)

Fairhaven? Must be in one of the later seasons too, as that doesn't sound familiar.

I think it would be awesome if someone did a fic where the Doctor and Moriarty met...

Yeah, it was a good episode, I'm just really amused by the visual cues they use to denote EEEEEEEEEEEEEVILLLL. (Chakotay's giant face tattoo wtf?)

The only thing I didn't actually laugh at was Tuvok's creepy smile. That, I found really effective. (Tim Russ: way to direct yourself to do the least ridiculous visual evil cue in the entire episode)
