Okay, so I've actually had a tumblr for a while now. But I've mostly been using it to stalk blogs that gif Doctor Who and Craigyferg.

But now I'm actually, occasionally, using it. Mostly just reblogging at the moment, but maybe I'll actually use it for other stuff too at some point.

This is all your fault. I followed the link to your tumblr and spent all afternoon looking at Stephen Fry in all his glorious genius-ness and then I created my own tumblr. (Even after I told myself I wouldn't because I already look after the pier56 tumblr and I always forget to update it and having a tumblr for myself instead of a community is just going to be worse. But no. I did it anyway and I refuse to accept any sort of responsibility for it.)

You could be spending the afternoon doing stuff for work, which is what I'm probably spending mine doing. (This is after having had to be at work for 3 hours this morning. And over 3 hours yesterday morning. Plus I've been working 10-hour days for the past week. I kind of hate my job right now.)

However, I'm watching the QI Sport Relief clip first.

Yeah, I enjoyed the clip, for the most part. Though I'm not a big fan of Lee Mack, to be honest. I'm not sure exactly what it is about him, but he bugs me. But pretty much all the rest of the QI people are YAY FOREVER. I totally hear you about Johnny Vegas, though - I loathe him so much!

Here's a tough question: who would be on your dream QI panel?

Lee Mack is kind of abrasive, but he's still pretty funny. Johnny Vegas is pretty funny, too, IMO, but his voice makes me want to rip my ears off.

Tough question. I love so many of the regular guests. Definitely Phill Jupitus. I also love Jo Brand, Jimmy Carr and David Mitchell. And Dara O'Briain. Sandi Toksvig is always a hoot. Damnit. I can't decide.

If we're talking people who've never been on QI, I would love to see Benedict Cumberbatch on the panel.

Clearly. Honestly, if it were at all possible for me to find a new job, I would totally quit grad school right now. But unfortunately, can't really find a job right now, and can't just quit outright because Husband doesn't make anywhere near enough money to cover the monthly bills.

I think part of my issue with both of them, really, is that playing just THAT stupid isn't particularly funny to me.

Mine would probably be Bill Bailey, Phill Jupitus, and either Rob Brydon or Rich Hall. Dara and David also rate really high on my list. And, oddly enough, Jeremy Clarkson. Sandi and Jo are awesome too. Aie, too many people are awesome.

OOOH. I vote Cumberbatch for this year's Christmas ep stunt cast!

Oh, there's more stupid stuff out there. I was once forced to watch Dumb & Dumber, so I guess I'm just not that bothered by Lee Mack playing stupid. *g*

Oh, I totally forgot Bill Bailey! Rich Hall and Rob Brydon are also high on my list. Seriously, every time I see long socks in a shop somewhere, I think of Rob Brydon.

That definitely gets my vote.

I know there's more stupid stuff out there, that's the stuff I avoid like the plague. I guess it's just that I regard QI as an intellectual show, so it bothers me that people who are probably actually quite smart in real life play dumb like that. (Part of the reason it bugs me so much is simply that my sister used to do that ALL THE TIME...she's pretty smart, but she used to play dumb and expect us to think it was funny, when really it pretty much just made us sad. So it bugs me when other people do it too.) And I've noticed that comedians in general tend to be very smart people (heck, I've heard that even Larry the Cable Guy is a really smart dude IRL, for all that his comedy is...not.), so I'm assuming that Lee is also fairly smart. (Johnny...well. I'm not sure I even want to talk about him, because honestly, he's the only thing that has ever made me want to flat-out turn off QI. *twitch*)

I love Bill Bailey! Also, Rob Brydon is the first person I've ever heard with a Welsh accent. Fun fact. XD And yes, the long socks are awesome. There was a time when he would tweet pictures of his long socks - like, people would ask him about the status of his socks and he'd take pics of whatever socks he was wearing at the time and post them. Which is silly, but I found it entertaining at the time.

ETA: Also! Ross Noble! Usually I don't like it when they add new people, but he's AWESOME.

I can't remember the first time I heard a Welsh accent, but it wasn't Rob Brydon. Actually, I think that was in school. Yeah. Seventh grade. Our teacher even had a recording of someone speaking in Welsh.

Do you, by any chance, watch Never Mind the Buzzcocks? I would love to see Noel Fielding on QI.

Yeah, that's what I meant - I figured he was probably actually smart (haven't seen him in anything else) but playing dumb for laughs, and that's just something that grates on my nerves. Maybe I'll have to check out some of the other stuff he's been in.

I'd been fascinated with the idea of Welsh ever since reading the Dark is Rising books when I was probably 9 or 10, but never even heard anybody with a Welsh accent until Brydon. I frankly have no idea why that is.

I've seen bits and pieces of NMTB. Mainly I've watched episodes that people I'd heard of were in, lol. Haven't just watched it all the way through or anything. From having seen it, I don't think I'm a big fan of Noel Fielding (I dunno, something about him creeps me out a llittle?), but I'm not sure how much of that is because he replaced Bill Bailey as a team captain (because I quite enjoyed Phill and Bill on the show). But I've never seen anything else he was actually in, so maybe I'd like him better in other stuff.

But maybe not Would I Lie to You, because Lee Mack and David Mitchell are team captains and he plays off of David Mitchell's uber-smart ways in a way you probably wouldn't like. (Although Would I Lie to You is a pretty funny show.)

Really? Not even, I don't know. Some other famous Welsh person? Heh. I guess after Torchwood, the majority of fandom knows at least two people with Welsh accents. *g*

I think Noel Fielding is kind of brilliant. Creepy... maybe. But brilliant. Watch the Mighty Boosh. It's absurd and hilarious.

I watched QI before I watched Torchwood, lol. And aside from them and Brydon, I still can't think of anybody else Welsh. XD
