It can be a really wide genre. Firefly was steampunk, but with more of a western feel to it rather than the typical victoriana of the east coast, but that's the only steampunk show I can think of.
Now is a great time to be pitching a show like that since it looks like the subculture is leaking into mainstream and settling in nicely. There's a niche that's crying out to be filled.
Heh, yeah, I knew about Firefly. It's taking all my willpower not to cast EVERYONE from Firefly in my show. As it is, I'm casting Gina Torres and probably Mark Sheppard anyway. XD

Fae, for the tvrealm Create-a-Show challenge (which is what I'm writing my new show for as well: we've been given the option to re-do a challenge we've done previously, and I'm crazy enough to choose to create another show XD )
I swear, these things ATE MY BRAIN while I was in the process of writing them. Underground took like 9 months to write...and the original idea for Fae arrived when I was deep in the middle of trying to write Underground (at which point I downloaded pictures of my cast and then said "you go sit over there until I finish THIS project." XD )
And the new one looks like it might eat my brain too.
