I went to see the last Harry Potter movie this weekend, finally!
I like movie trailers, and we had a decent batch of them.
-Cowboys and Aliens: I giggled that we were seeing that trailer, primarily because the movie itself was showing in the next theatre over
-Breaking Dawn: reinforcing my feelings of DO NOT WANT. Also, that trailer is actually the most I've ever seen of a Twilight film. Let's keep it that way, yeah? (WTF Bella, no I do not want to see you touching your stomach, stop that.)
-Sherlock Holmes 2: Entertaining trailer. RDJ in drag will never not be funny. However, I was kind of disappointed about Stephen Fry being Sir Not Appearing in This Trailer.
-uhh, I feel like we saw at least one more trailer, but I have no idea what it might've been now
-uh, Free Hugs Voldemort? I don't even. (Both the hugging Malfoy bit and the whole...LET'S HUG AND FLY AROUND HOGWARTS FOR A WHILE! Really?)
-I felt like Neville's Crowning Moment of Awesome could've been more awesome.
--okay, I just wanted more Neville in general.
--The same can be said of Molly's Crowning Moment of awesome
-I can has more shots of actual dueling, plz? Battle scenes always go by WAY TOO FAST for me to comprehend.
-the more often I read/watch Harry Potter, I realize more and more just how much of a dick Dumbledore is sometimes.
-Alan Rickman. Dude can act.
-The shot right before the epilogue? With the trio holding hands? Hello, OT3, how nice to see you. (I should note, I don't really OT3 them much in general, but I've read one awesome fic that makes me like it sometimes.)
-however, the bit before that? With Harry standing on the edge of the REALLY FREAKING HIGH BRIDGE? I seriously couldn't watch that scene because AUGH HIGH PLACES YOU ARE GOING TO FALL OFF GET AWAY FROM THERE RIGHT NOW.
-DRAGON. The dragon was awesome and OMG ANIMAL ABUSE I'M KIND OF GLAD THE GOBLINS GOT FRIED. Pretty pretty dragon.
-Cried at dead!Fred. This is unsurprising.
-Minerva McGonagall is a BAMF.
--And I giggled when she got all excited about waking up the statues.
---Which also made me go "Traguna, Macoities, Tracorum Satis De." 5 points to anybody who actually knows what that's from.
-Epilogue thoughts:
--Ginny actually did look 20 years older. I think this is 90% because of her haircut.
--However, Hermione looked...maybe 2 years older?
--They did okay with the guys.
--EVERYONE should've had more grey hair, though.
--And seriously, all the children are exact carbon copies of their parents? NO THANK YOU.
--No, I didn't like the epilogue in the book either. It's just...it was all very LET'S BE ONE BIG HAPPY HETEROSEXUAL WEASLEY FAMILY. Which...no.
--And where were Teddy and what's-her-face?
-all in all, I didn't cry as much as I'd thought I was going to. Which is a little weird, honestly. Because I cry pretty easily at movies.
Hm. Once this comes out on DVD, I bet they're going to release a massive box set, what do you reckon? And then I'll finally actually buy the movies. Figure it'll be cheaper that way, and plus, massive box set will probably have more special features than were on the individual DVDs, because that's the way movie companies work: get you to buy each movie individually, THEN release a set with more extras in an effort to get you to buy the set on top of what you already own. But I R SMRT, and haven't been buying the individual movies all along.
