Can't make this a very long comment, sadly, I am expected downstairs, so consider this a filler comment until I have more time to think:
High school: well, we can either set it in an actual time frame that would make sense to their adult ages in the show, or we can just set it in modern times and be done with it. It IS crack, after all. (Although, the idea of them having 80s hair is hysterical.) What is your preference, as I apparently have none?
Music: oh dear god, that will require research and careful thinking. Depends on what time frame we end up setting it in, I think. (Reid got his love of jazz from Gideon [we know Gideon listened to it, anyway] and it soothes his Daddy!Issues soul to listen to jazz. He does genuinely love it, but I feel that kid!Reid would have heard it first from Gideon.) I think Morgan would probably listen to whatever was popular at the time (damn, we need to find out what is on that iPod he's always listening to in the show) but also have some particular favorite groups/singers which may not be the popular ones. More on music at a later reply post.
Magazines: Oh, Hotch DEFINITELY is a Better Homes and Gardens man. I can also see him surreptitiously reading a child-rearing magazine, because DEAR GOD, have you seen his kids? Who the hell is supposed to know how to manage them? I see Rossi reading some uberly pretentious journal of some sort, on what topic I do not know. Gideon had a subscription to a bird watching magazine. They still get the magazine at the house, and no one reads it, but they keep them. Just in case. Morgan buys himself Sports Illustrated now and then, but he's not necessarily a regular reader. Garcia got a year-long subscription to one of those computer-geeky magazines for Christmas from the family. They kind of regret it, seeing as she's taken apart the home computer four times now (well, she's not going to experiment on HER baby, is she? That's what the crappy old computer is for. Never mind the fact that Hotch keeps telling her it's not crappy or old, they got it just a year ago. The fact of the matter is, the computer world as moved ON in a year, and they're not keeping up, and therefore, it is free game for home repairs.)
(Oh. That might save the What Year Is It? issue- when the fuck were personal computers that weren't the size of barns around?)
(As for their real ages, pssh. They TOTALLY act the birth order we came up with for them.)
(That's all for now, must go downstairs and chill with mum.)
