First time ever playing a mafia game on LJ.

Pretty fun so far.

Major dilemma: can't tell if character is being played out of character on purpose (i.e. acting weird because they're a werewolf), or if player is just not good at RPing.

Like, I don't want to vote someone off because they're a shitty RPer, you know?

(And this is probably all I can say on the subject because 1. the game is still ongoing, and 2. because naming names is a shitty thing to do in this instance.)

If you keep playing Mafia (and play elsewhere on LJ, where it isn't just an HP game), you'll find that RP plays into it less. Some people really love the RP aspect (I definitely do), but when you get to the strategy bit of playing Mafia, RP has to sort of go out the window. Because RP relationships don't matter in terms of the game. And people will sign up as characters who are fun to RP but hard to actually play the game with in character.

Which is hopefully not me saying anything about an ongoing game that I'm also part of. >_>

For completed games, check out [livejournal.com profile] jjmafia or [livejournal.com profile] owememafia. I've played nearly 100 games now, at those comms and others. OMM is the most active. JJ has a game every few months, and they're always good games - really well run, lots of experienced players. Mafia is definitely time-consuming. I don't know that I could play it as often as I do if I weren't housebound most of the time.

There are some characters being played SO well. I agree.

I thought they were very good as well. Pansy in particular... the character irritated me, which means she was being played perfectly. :P And she did a good job as a seer.
